Aug. 17th, 2012 12:11 pmScott had Saturday off. We went out shopping. The idea was to let Delia spend some of her allowance money. It's been building up for months. We went to Barnes & Noble first. Delia bought one book and tried to talk me into buying another for her. She bought the book of supplementary material for Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles and tried to talk me into buying the first book in Riordan's Percy Jackson sequel series. I told her we'll think about it when all the books are out.
Then we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond because Scott and I needed sheets. We bought two sets online. One is wonderful. The other is so dreadful that Scott didn't object when I suggested throwing them out (we decided to keep them around in case they're useful for making a Halloween costume). We bought sheets, a pair of collapsable laundry baskets and a lamp for Delia's desk. Delia bought a pair of thermal socks.
Then we went to Target. Delia bought a pair of ballet slippers. She's been wearing them off and on all weeks. Scott and I bought extra pillowcases.
Sunday, Scott worked.
cherydactyl brought her younger daughter over to play with Delia. The girls had a great time, and
cherydactyl and I had time to talk. I so rarely get time with other adults (apart from Scott) that it was quite a treat.
Monday at five, Scott and I had to be at our bank. The refinance we started months ago (February, I think) finally went through, and it was time to sign the paperwork. We weren't entirely happy with the process. The bank took so long processing the application that we had to submit proof of income paperwork twice and had to pay for two appraisals. We were almost to the point of writing off the application fee and going elsewhere. The whole thing was ridiculous.
We went out to dinner to celebrate getting the paperwork done. Our first choice of restaurant, Blue Nile, proved to be closed on Mondays. Scott was so hungry that he couldn't think, and I couldn't come up with anything. We ended up going to Ypsi to a Chinese buffet. If we'd been thinking, we'd have stopped at the Flattop Grill. It simply didn't occur to me even though we drove right by it. I suppose we were both distracted by how awful the traffic was. Washtenaw was down to one lane for a little while. My guess, based on what we saw, is that a car struck a bicyclist. There was a crumpled bike in the road, and a policeman was photographing the scene while other police directed traffic around.
Delia has been playing with a couple of neighborhood kids a few years younger than she is. I wish she was finding kids nearer her own age, but she seems to be having fun. We have to go retrieve her for dinner and for bedtime.
Wednesday, Scott's Babylon 5 game met. It was a rather subdued session. Two players were late, one had to leave early, and a fourth wasn't able to attend at all. Scott left us with a cliffhanger, of course.
