I gave the afternoon to errands and to a partial cleaning of Cordelia's closets (which were threatening overflow and flood her room). We've already pulled out two paper bags of trash (dead coloring books, valentines from pre-school, three year old Christmas cards, toys broken beyond repair, a shattered walnut shell) and put aside about three bags of things we'd like to donate. I'm torn about the items to donate. I'd love to have Cordelia have some input, but we need to get rid of at least that much, and she's very possessive. I don't think she really needs those happy meal toys or the plastic dinosaurs that she doesn't play with any more or... Well, I kept everything I've seen her play with recently, including a couple of things I'd love to have disappear because of branding.
Cordelia's spending tonight with Scott's parents, too. We have to figure out how we're retrieving her. They're willing to keep her into the early afternoon if we'll come and get her. Otherwise, they want to bring her home after church (eleven-ish, I think). Our car is still very noisy because Scott's schedule got crazy last week, so I don't really want to ride forty-five minutes each way in it, but I'm also not sure I want to try to be up and social in the morning.
The car's going to stay noisy until at least Wednesday because the part that's needed isn't currently available in-state, not even from the dealership. Basically, the entire exhaust system needs to be replaced. It broke because it had rusted through. It was just waiting for one jolt to finish it.
Well, time to write. I doubled the length of my crossover last night. Now I have to figure out how to fit the two parts together and edit the part I wrote first to clean up things that conflict with or repeat things that're in what I wrote last night (which is going to come first in the finished story). The join between sections is still fighting me. Still, I'm determined to have a complete draft tonight so that I can have beta readers look at it.

Date: 2008-08-20 01:49 pm (UTC)We wanted to cull the stuffed animals, too, but most of them have sentimental value for us, one way or another, or they're small enough to be pun-bunnies if I ever GM again. We only pulled one stuffed animal, an orange triceratops that we bought during the height of her dinosaur phase. It's huge, and she never really got attached to it. It had been at the back of her closet for over a year.
