I ended up rejecting the mooch request for Morrigan's Cross. I simply couldn't find it in spite of looking everywhere. (I'm sure it'll turn up tomorrow or next week.) I couldn't justify tying up the requester's point any longer when I had no idea how long it would take me to find the dratted thing. They'll have no trouble getting a copy as seventy-five other copies are listed. It's not a hard to find title.

Part of giving up looking is that I'm going to need my time and energy for writing. I've got two deadlines coming up fast and only ¾ of a fic written (and that needs serious reworking since I didn't figure out the plot until halfway through). I can do it but only if I buckle down and do nothing else with my spare time.

Doing nothing else will be hard. I've not gotten a good night's sleep all week. Cordelia has been having coughing spells in the middle of the night. They generally start around midnight and continue for a couple of hours. If they wake her up, she cries. My best guess about it is that they were brought on by a combination of mild fall allergies, dry air and middle of the night chilliness. I turned on the heat (which also turns on the whole house humidifier) yesterday, and I think she slept through the night last night.

I'm also having trouble adjusting to getting up to get Cordelia to school. I'd hoped that would pass by now, but it hasn't. The biggest difficulty is in getting back to sleep after Scott gets up. His alarm goes off at 5:20. He pushes snooze, and we snuggle until it goes off again. (That's about as long as I can manage without something starting to hurt.) Some mornings, I go back to sleep and some I don't. I don't need to get up until 7:00. I get Cordelia up at 7:30.

I've thought about getting up when Scott does, but to do that, I'd have to go to be no later than 9:00. I'm not sure I could do that every day without going crazy. My writing brain works better at night than it does during the day. My most productive writing time is usually between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m., and I work best if I have at least three hours. Pity the real world won't rearrange itself to suit my needs.

I've also thought about getting up at 7:30 and getting Cordelia up at 8:00 or just getting us both up at 7:30. I'm not fond of those options either. Cordelia seems to need about twenty minutes of cuddling before she's capable of interacting verbally or has any willingness to eat or get dressed. There might be ways to push her to move faster, but I'm reluctant to push her if I don't absolutely have to. That means getting her up at 7:30 so that we have a good forty minutes for actually doing things like eating. Getting up at the same time she does would mean giving up my morning caffeine or switching to soda pop as it would take my time for boiling water and other set up for the morning. I'm supposed to delay eating for a while after I take my morning medication, too, and that extra half hour means that I can eat before we leave if I want to.

Don't mind me. I just needed a little space to complain.
