I'm posting this now with the idea that I'll put a link to it in my Yuletide sign up to make it easier to find if my request goes to a pinch hitter or if my assigned writer needs to find it again a while after assignments go out.

I'm cutting this because it's unlikely to interest anyone but whoever gets assigned to write for me.

First off, thanks for signing up to write for Yuletide! I'm sure I'll love whatever you write. All four fandoms I've requested are things that I very much want to read. I may have road not taken regrets for whichever three aren't written, but I'll love the story I do get because none of these fandoms are make-weight choices.

I read gen, het, m/m, f/f, threesomes, moresomes, anything that's well written. I prefer to avoid reading about sex with underage characters (16-17 is borderline for me. It won't squick me, but I won't seek it out, either), and explicit sex in live action fandoms generally squicks me.

I like canon derived AUs-- things that diverge from canon or that assume that one thing in the canonical world is different. I'm not so keen on the sort of AU that transplants the characters into an entirely different setting, that is the sort where, say, all the characters from a modern setting are-- and always have been-- cowboys or members of a fantasy adventuring party. It can be done well, but it's not something I'd read if something else is available.

I enjoy crossovers when they tell me more about the characters or have an interesting twist on the story. I won't squawk about a crossover with another Yuletide eligible fandom that with which I have some familiarity as long as my requested fandom is the primary focus. Discovering what fandoms I know isn't so easy, so I'm not expecting a crossover or even hoping for one.

I'm not a huge fan of romances as the main plot of a story. I enjoy them as secondary or tertiary plots and get cranky when other plots are abandoned to advance the romance.

I like psychological struggles, conflicting loyalties and difficult choices. I prefer stories with at least a hint of something beyond the mundane world but don't insist on it. I prefer internal consistency in a story to utter faithfulness to the canon, but I also like Watsonian explanations of canonical inconsistencies.

I prefer to avoid tragedy and truly hopeless dark stories. I want what the characters go through to buy them something, even if it's just hope for future change. I don't enjoy horror as a general rule. I'm not very interested in medical stories, lawyers or police procedurals.

To see fics I've enjoyed in the past, take a look at my recs site. It's large, so you'll likely be able to find a fandom or two that we have in common. I do read fics for fandoms that I don't know, so a fandom being listed isn't a guarantee that I know all the ins and outs of it, but it is an indication that I'm willing to read sometimes. (Fandoms whose only listed fics are crossovers are ones that I almost never read and wouldn't seek out.)

My requested fandoms are Ayatsuri Sakon, Condor Hero, Planet Ladder and The Pretender. I'm going to paste in my requests here so that I have an easy to find record of them later.

Fandom: Ayatsuri Sakon aka Puppet Master Sakon (anime or manga)
Characters: Tachibana Sakon/Ukon
RequestDetail: I'm agnostic on the subject of whether Ukon's magical/self aware or just a puppet that Sakon uses to express a different facet of himself. I can enjoy stories going either way. I'm interested in the relationship between Sakon and Ukon-- Why do they need each other (if they do)? How did they start working together? What happens when they're separated? but would also enjoy a case story or a story about rehearsing or putting together a big performance or about how other people see Sakon and Ukon. Really, I'd love just about anything. There's so little out there for this fandom. I'm also not hugely picky about canon chronology and compliance with anything but the character relationships. A crossover could be fun-- I think this fandom's well suited to it. Please, no puppet sex.

Fandom: Planet Ladder (manga)
Characters: Any
RequestDetail: I'm especially interested in Bambi and Kaguya, so something about them would be a plus. (Anything with Kaguya should either not include explicit sex or should take place when she's older.) I'd also, however, be pleased with a character exploration about anybody except Seeu (not that I hate him or would hate fic about him if you write it. It's just that the few fics I've seen for this fandom are mostly about him). A fic giving pre-manga backstory would be neat as would a fic that fills in the gaps at the end of the manga. The whole skipping over the actual world saving frustrated me. Another possibility is something about how Bambi adapted to the changes in her life after she left home. Again, I'll likely love just about anything, even fic about Seeu. Fic for Planet Ladder is so hard to find.

Fandom: Condor Hero aka Shin chou kyou ryo (tv 2001)
Characters: Any
RequestDetail: Please no explicit sex. I'm curious about family relationships, about various romances that got almost no screen time, about what Yang Guo did for sixteen years while he waited for his wife to return. I'd love backstory, too. I have no knowledge of other versions of the canon apart from what I got from reading Wikipedia articles and talking to one or two other fans, so I won't be troubled by divergence from that. I don't object to the main romantic pairing in the canon, but I'm not very interested in a story that focuses heavily on the romance.

Fandom: The Pretender
Characters: Jarod
RequestDetail: Please no explicit sex. I'd also prefer no slash in this fandom. I'm not a Jarod/Miss Parker shipper (I'm not against the pairing either). I prefer gen in this fandom. I tend to pretend that the end of season three and most of season four went differently, not entirely differently, just in ways that make more sense to me. My perception is that the characters froze around the time of Thomas' death and didn't advance. I still loved the individual episodes, but the arc frustrated me. That means I'm not against a divergent AU. I'm very interested in Jarod's darker side. The punishments he inflicts in the course of his pretends show that he has a lot of anger, frustration and desire for revenge. Canon doesn't explore that very deeply because he's the hero, but it's there. I don't want to see an evil Jarod, but I'm curious about whether he sees his own darkness and what he does about it.
