Okay, I've taken care of a few things. I have others that are still pending and stressing me out.
We have a new microwave. Scott took care of that. (We also have a small loaner from some friends. We didn't end up using it because I didn't have anywhere to plug it in this afternoon, not being strong enough to move the old microwave.)
I have babysitters to cover both of my doctor's appointments next week. Scott's mother will come on Monday, and Cordelia will have a playdate on Thursday. That all works. The Monday appointment shouldn't be long, so we'll probably end up going somewhere for lunch after I get back. The Thursday appointment is earlier in the day but involves a lot more travel time. Even if I see the doctor on time, I probably won't get home until two or three.
I took down the hardware for one of our old baby gates. The folks who loaned us the microwave want the gates. I tried to take down the hardware for the other, but the screws were too stubborn. I didn't want to risk destroying the heads of the screws. They're in recesses in the hardware, so they're hart to get at. Of the four, only one would turn, and I'm not sure I got that one to come out at all.
I found the canon for my Yuletide assignment and started in on the review of it. I need to see if I can locate likely beta readers for when I get to that point. I've sent a couple of e-mails of query so far. There's no great rush, but I think I'm going to have trouble finding someone who knows the canon.
There's still a lot to do. I think the two things hanging over me the most heavily are the
livelongnmarry fic and the phone call I need to make about the loveseats. I have the phone number for the guy who wants at least one of them, but I haven't been able to bring myself to call. I need to do it. I've maybe lined up transportation for the weekend (thanks
booniverse!) and need to know whether and when he'll be around. I also need to know his address.
We need to order the new seating for the living room. That's Scott's task and not something I can do much about. We also need to move the hide-a-bed to the basement. That's going to be a challenge that requires outside assistance. We'll have to see if anybody's willing to trade ten minutes of work for pizza or something similar.
I need to call the person who may want the clothing exchange stuff that's too small for Cordelia. Always phone calls. Much as I'd like to get rid of that stuff, I can't handle a phone call let alone having a stranger come over here to sort through clothes. I think they're expecting to show up, pick up what's available and go, but I'm not sure when I'll get the last of it sorted. It may not happen until it *has* to be done, until somebody's here and waiting.
I need to clear out the easier things before I can write. With all this stuff hanging over my head, I tend to stare at the screen and feel utterly paralyzed. I need to finish the fic so that I can get moving on my personal (and unofficial) NaNoWriMo goal. I'm fairly far behind. It's not impossible to catch up, but it will be hard.
