So, when I woke this morning, my back hurt a little bit. That happens sometimes. I just ignore it and go on. It's a sign that I mostly slept on my back and didn't have my legs raise while I did. It passes.

As I walked Cordelia to school, however, there was a thin layer of ice on the sidewalks. Cordelia's feet went out from under her. We were holding hands, and I held on to keep her from going all the way down. I didn't even think about it, but I'm not sorry I did it because the risk of her head hitting the sidewalk isn't one I'm prepared to take.

Still, my back now hurts like hell. I'm having trouble walking and am thinking I'll have to call another mother and ask her to walk Cordelia home. I can probably do it if I absolutely have to, but it wouldn't be smart.

::bangs head:: I have to tidy the living room so that the cleaning lady can mop. I have to deal with the dishes so she can clean the sink and counters. (I have problems with the chemicals involved and don't have spoons enough to tidy and then clean. I can manage one or the other and would rather tidy as that means I know where my stuff is.) Tonight, I'm supposed to help at the Scholastic book fair at Cordelia's school.

Of course, this would happen today.

I can take a muscle relaxant and have that help. It'll mean not taking the second dose of Provigil for the day, though. Which is worse being alert and awake but unable to move or being dopey (from the medicine) and tired but able to move? This is one of those no win situations, isn't it?

::growls at the universe:: I really hope the day improves.

Will it help to soak in a super hot bath?

Argh, I hope it improves.

Hot shower, yes. Good point about another adult.

Argh, argh. Hope it heals fast.

Does it help to apply heat without the tub? My PT recommends microwaving a wet towel (and it is really effective for penetrating heat, but I always end up getting counterproductively wet.)

Dampen towel, microwave it, then stuff it inside a plastic bag?

I'd go for dopey and tired, yet able to move -- but that's just me. :( I'm sorry that you have to choose.

:hugs: (but gentle ones).
