Oct. 2nd, 2012 11:47 amDelia's soccer team lost their game on Saturday by one goal. It would have been a tie, but the referee was enforcing a rule we'd not heard before about only allowing indirect goals. That is, a kick off or penalty kick can't score a goal directly. Somebody else has to touch the ball before it goes in. The referee was also calling hand balls on the goalies when they went to throw the ball back into play. We've never previously seen a referee do that, so the kids were really bewildered.
Scott worked on Sunday. After dinner, he took Delia out to JoAnn's to look at fabric and try to get ideas for a Halloween costume. They came back with a costume purchased from a Halloween store near JoAnn's. Delia had seen the costume online and liked it. Seeing it in person and getting to try it on, apparently meant she had to have it immediately. Looking online, she preferred the blue bordered version, but she took the pink version because that was what the store had. At least the costume is taken care of for this year. We'll have to tweak it so that she doesn't freeze because it's effectively sleeveless.
I wish there was a way to place a Scholastic book order and not have it delivered to Delia at school. She wants quite a few things from the latest circulars, and I'm not against getting them for her, but I'd like to use them as Christmas presents. Unfortunately, even if I order online (and I'd have to ask the teacher for the class' i.d. number so that she gets the credit for the sale. The teacher gets free stuff for the classroom, based on how much stuff the families buy), the stuff would be delivered to Delia's classroom. Delia seems to be very interested in detective and spy gadgets.
