We're now in sports overlap territory. That is, Delia has two team sports during the month of October (this is better than one of her classmates who will have three sports this month and then two in November and December). I don't know why Rec & Ed set up fall sports so that the two seasons overlap. None of the other seasons overlap. At any rate, Delia's starting volleyball tonight. We have no idea how much she'll like it. Fourth grade is the first year volleyball is available from Rec & Ed. Volleyball, unlike the other sports she's played, is co-ed. I don't think, though, that there are any boys on her team. There are six kids on the team, and four play at any given time.
The volleyball coach has said that we don't need to purchase a ball for Delia. I'm taking her at her word. The balls are about $30, and I'd rather not buy one unnecessarily. I don't think volleyball is a sport Delia can do much with on her own or just with Scott.
Fortunately, volleyball has byes the thirteenth and twentieth, and soccer has a bye on the twenty-seventh, so we don't have any days with two games. Unfortunately, the first volleyball game, on the twenty-seventh, is at 12:30. We're due to run our LARP at 2:00, and it'll take about half an hour to get from one place to the other. The best solution we've been able to come up with is for Scott to drop me and all the LARP stuff at UCon before the volleyball game. He'll arrive close to the start time of the LARP. I can do the introductory stuff, assigning characters, handing out index cards (all props and special powers are represented by index cards). Ideally, Scott will arrive in time to explain the combat system, but I can do that in a pinch. We can make this work.

Date: 2012-10-04 04:26 pm (UTC)Oh, a couple of questions-- First, what's the policy on outside food this year? I'm going to need to eat lunch after I arrive, and I was wondering if I should (or even could) bring something or if I should buy something on-site. Second, should we buy Delia a membership? I'm not anticipating her signing up for any games, but she's likely to be running around with your sister's younger daughter. I don't know from talking to

We are going to have food available for purchase onsite. Hours will be posted closer to the event, but I think lunch will be 11a-2p. All the proceeds go back to the convention (we've prepaid for the catering). However, you are welcome to bring food for yourself.
