Volleyball practice seems to have gone well. Technically, the practice was a clinic for coaches to learn about teaching volleyball, but it was open to the kids, too, and a lot of kids showed up. I do hope that the net for the kids' games is lower than the net at the workshop because it was high enough that most of the kids could run under it without ducking. Getting the ball over that net was a huge challenge.
Scott and I went to Plum Market while Delia was learning volleyball. It beat hanging around the middle school where the workshop was. We had an hour and a half, and the only thing we absolutely had to do was get gas for the car. I picked up some apple cinnamon tea (It smells better than it tastes, but it tastes pretty good). Plum Market doesn't have nearly the selection of tea that Whole Foods does, but I was able to spend a while looking.
Future volleyball practices will be at Delia's school, so getting her back and forth won't be a big deal. I probably won't stay in the building most of the time because half the practices will conflict with Scott's Babylon 5 game. I'll just drop Delia off, come home, then go back to get her at the end.
Today's soccer game was early in the morning and quite cold. It was in the 40s when we left home, and it clouded over almost immediately, so we didn't have warmth from the sun. Delia's team steamrolled over the other team. I lost track of the number of goals Delia's team made, and the other team didn't manage any. I felt bad for the other team, but the girls felt really good about winning. They don't usually though they've managed some fairly close games this season.
Delia wants to do more Halloween shopping. She wants to buy some costume jewelry to wear with her costume. She thinks it needs to be fancier and has rejected the hairband that came with the costume. I dug out a copper and amethyst circlet that I bought years ago, but she wasn't impressed. I think anything we find at home isn't going to live up to her imagination, no matter how pretty what we find is. I've also dug out my makeup. When I was in college, twenty-seven years ago, I bought some blush and some eye shadow. The blush has broken up into big chunks, but it's still usable. The eye shadow applicator is missing, but a q-tip works reasonably well. Delia likes the idea of makeup. She was a little disappointed that it wasn't more obvious when we tried it the other night.
I've been going through the list of fandoms nominated for Yuletide and trying to figure out what to offer. I'm going to devote some time to looking at the lyrics of songs nominated and watching the various music videos nominated. I'll offer any of those that give me story ideas. My guess is that I'll get the to offer list down to about thirty possibilities. Right now, it's twice that, but I haven't been really ruthless yet. There are still things on the list that I love but doubt I could write well or that I know but couldn't easily review the canon in the time available.
Chapter 20 has stalled out again. I've no good reasons for it this time. I just keep looking up and realizing that all my time has gone with no writing done. I'm going to buckle down and work this week. I'm so close to finishing it that leaving it undone is painful. I need to do something about that.
As for the LARP, we still haven't found the folders and the rules. We may have to accept that they're gone. I've been playing with the formatting of the rules and tweaking them a bit. There're some details that are no longer how we do things, and I've changed those. The rules hang together better than I'd hoped.
Scott and I talked, a long time ago, about open sourcing our LARP rules and then trying to sell the scenarios. Open sourcing the rules might still make sense. They're pretty simple and easy to apply. I'd be interested to see how other people would adapt them to do different things. Of course, a lot of people are interested in LARP campaigns. I'm not sure these rules would work for that. We've always done one off things.
