I've unlocked most of my old writing filter entries. I was a little astonished to see that I haven't posted on that filter in months, but it fits with how long it had been since I'd done much writing. With luck, there will be more writing filter posts in the not too distant future. They'll be locked to the opt-in filter at first, but they'll eventually get unlocked when enough time has passed that they won't clutter the reading pages of those who aren't interested. (The writing filter is one of the things that I regularly tag, so finding those entries should be relatively easy if you're interested and didn't see them when I first posted them. There aren't very many of them.)

I'm seriously considering taking time to tag at least some of my back entries. There are things I might want to find again. I just have to decide on some tags and go back through to apply them. I tried once, but I kept thinking of new tags as I got further back. I didn't apply most of those because I'd have had to start from the present again to work my way back without missing anything.

I currently tag 'writing filter,' 'book logging' and 'dvd logging.' I have a few other tags that I've applied sporadically.

My ideas for other tags are as follows:

Anime
Anxiety
Birthdays
Book recommendations
Cataloging
Chronic pain
Craft projects
comments/snark/ranting on other people's
Cuteness
Disability related
dvds/tv/movies
Family
Fic announcement
Fic challenges
Food
Gardening
Geodon
Goals or to-do lists
Headaches
IBARW
Major child development
Manga
Medical/Dental
Medication
Memes
Netflix
Provigil
Reading/writing/fanfic meta
Theology/ethics/philosophy

I need to reword some of these. One ended up truncated because it was too long (I included the truncated version above). Many of them are clunky. I'm trying to decide whether it's better to be extremely specific or overly broad. My cataloging instincts call for using both, but this isn't a library catalog. There are some access points that I don't expect to use. Those only need tagging if someone else might want to use them, and 90% of my entries are things of little to no interest to anybody who isn't me.

Any suggestions on tags? Do you use them? Anybody have suggestions for better wording for the long tags on my list? Any tags you'd like to see me use?

I haven't listed 'Cordelia' as a tag because it would end up on three quarters of my entries and not be very useful. I tried to come up with ideas for Cordelia sub-categories, but I only came up with a few.

This will be a long term project, I expect, and will get done on LJ second, after DW which only has a handful of entries so far, as I haven't used tags anywhere else (apart from the writing filter tag which I just added to IJ).

kyrielle: Two pennies, partially stacked (my two cents)

I like my 'positive' tag because I can use it to look back at the good times (large and small). But I use tags for two things - the look-back search-back, but also "what category is this in?" for current readers. So, for example, I'm unlikely to ever use 'fuss' to search my journal for all my posts that are fussing, but I do mark them sometimes when I am fussing. Or 'babble' for posts that are rambly. I use 'question' for ones where I'm asking for input (if I remember) - and that one I might want to search back on.

ETA: hey, wait, I have an icon for things like this....
