Scott is off work today. Hurrah for three day weekends!

We're going to be packing a lot of errands into the weekend, I suspect. I need to start a list so that I don't realize in the middle of next week that I desperately need to get something done that requires Scott's help.

I've posted a significant fraction of my fic on the DreamWidth backup. I've not put anything more up recently because most of the time when I can work is time when Cordelia is hanging around me and reading over my shoulder. I'm not willing to work on the NC-17 stuff under those circumstances, and that's all that's left.

I do plan to do the rest of the fic soon. I've signed up for ficfinishing to do two chapters of "Rheotaxis," and I need to reread the story anyway. I might as well kill two birds with one stone by rereading and tagging at the same time. I'm a little worried that the week I'll be mostly offline this month will make my participation in ficfinishing difficult, but I'm hoping that merely having the external deadline will be enough.

I also offered to be a first reader for ficfinishing in Weiss Kreuz and The Pretender. I thought about offering other fandoms, too, but I'm not sure which ones I can respond to enthusiastically. For most other fandoms, I'm out of step with what's popular in ways that might get in the way. For Weiss Kreuz and The Pretender, I may not always adore what's popular, but I'm not generally opposed to it. Maybe I'll offer other fandoms some other month, some month when I know I'm going to be around online for most of the time.

During the time I am online this month, I'll probably be looking for people willing to play word wars*. I don't tend to produce lots of new words when I play. Many writers are faster than I. I just like having a focus and some social interaction. They help me produce more words than I would normally. If I could think of a way to do editing with the same structure, I'd want to try.

*Word wars are done via some form of chat. Each participant writes for fifteen minutes and then announces her word count. The person who has the most words wins. I tend to ignore the win/lose thing as I'm not particularly competitive. I figure that all participants win by getting writing done. After fifteen minutes of writing, everybody takes fifteen minutes to chat, get food, do laundry, etc. before coming back for another fifteen minutes of writing.

I like the fifteen on and fifteen off cycle. I find that I don't do it if I'm trying on my own. I get distracted or take hour long breaks or.... Plus, it's nice to be able to talk about writing frustrations, even in generalities, while I'm working. I'm more productive that way.
