Last night was kind of miserable. We ordered pizza from our usual place, and they decided, for reasons unknown, to put oregano all over my pizza. I can't eat oregano without getting sick. I called Cottage Inn, and the manager tried to convince me that they hadn't put any herbs on the pizza because there wasn't any mention of herbs in my order. I could see them, I could smell them, and Scott could taste them.

Scott didn't emerge from the shower in time to be able to go out to get me something else, and the dishes I would have needed to prepare something else without wrecking myself were dirty. Washing them by hand would have been harder on me than just not eating dinner, so... Yeah. By the time Scott could have washed those dishes, there also wasn't time for me to prepare anything.

Then Scott and I snarled at each other for quite a while because he didn't like how I was dealing with trick or treaters. We had no jack o'lantern this year, and it wasn't dark enough for our porch light to be easily visible, so I wanted to keep the front door open. I've done that every Halloween for the last decade plus. Scott just hasn't generally been here.

Cordelia thought I was stingy when I limited the early trick or treaters to one piece of candy each (little bags of Skittles or treat sized Kit-Kats). I pointed out that we got a dozen kids in the first five minutes and that I had no way to know how many more kids we'd get. We ended up getting only about another dozen kids over the next two and a fraction hours.

Then we worked on the census thing. That required digging out a lot of financial numbers and adding them together. They wanted a lot of numbers for things over the 'last 12 months' which isn't an easy period for us to calculate because of how Scott keeps our records.

We did manage to (we hope) deal with the problems my laptop has been having. Disk Utility told us that my hard drive was corrupt. We had to connect my laptop to his in order to be able to make repairs, but as far as we can tell, the repair effort worked.

Three interlibrary loan books done. Three to go. Two of those can't be renewed, but the third is a volume of manga and so will likely end up being read first.

I came up with a title for one of my WIP yesterday, changed the sheets, and ran two loads of laundry.

We watched Supergirl last night. I hope I get more into this season than last season because I'm not going to be allowed to drift away to do something else when it comes on. I think that part of my problem last season was simply not comprehending the attraction of Mon-El.

Oh-- Now I know why I got cranky when I watched last season-- The point of his arc was him becoming a responsible person, but the timing and the writing made it him becoming a responsible person not through choice or circumstances but rather because Kara loved him, and I loathe that trope.

I'm tired enough that I'm missing things like tracking who I'm chatting with online or remembering that I refilled that one prescription Friday and didn't need to ask my doctor for a renewal (which I totally did before I realized). I'm also losing track of what things on my to do list I've dealt with and which I haven't. Those are a little easier because I can, say, look at the sink and see the presence or absence of dirty dishes.

My Gdoc of potential titles (mostly song or poetry fragments) is getting too long to work with. The response time is sluggish, and I know that separating it into pieces would help, but that will be ever so much less convenient. 36 pages is just too long, but this isn't something with obvious break points or useful ways of sorting things. Dividing by author would cut the length but make browsing a PITA. Dividing by theme-- Well, I can't actually tell what sort of theme a particular snippet is likely to fit. Maybe use of certain substantive nouns like 'time' or 'wind' or 'mirror'? Except that I'm sure there are a lot of snippets that wouldn't sort that way.

Anybody in need of a few dozen titles? Free to good home.

Well, the Marco's Pizza in Port Clinton, OH can't get an order right. This means that, while everybody else ate pizza tonight, I had a turkey sandwich. I was actually quite looking forward to pizza, but they put sauce on the stupid thing, so I couldn't eat it. Scott's mother placed the order, and I was standing next to her. She was very, very specific about no sauce on that pizza.

When we called to complain, they said that, if we brought the entire pizza back, they'd start making a new one as soon as they had the old one in hand or give us a credit toward a new pizza. Well, I had half an hour left to eat before my drop dead no more food time, and Cordelia and Scott had taken some of the pizza (it was intended for the three of us, and they can eat pizza sauce. Cordelia prefers not to, but she can), and we're leaving the day after tomorrow, so neither option was actually even remotely helpful.

So I'm cranky about that, and I'm still in pain. I have to get through two more nights and then the rapid clean everything and clear everything out of the house stuff we'll have to do Saturday morning. We have to be out of here by 10 a.m., and Scott's parents are talking about waiting to get breakfast until after we leave. I think that's so as not to dirty any dishes and so that we can have a leisurely family meal. I will have to eat sooner, of course, but hopefully that won't be a problem. A banana is pretty easy to deal with.

And, naturally, I topped this off by getting hiccups that lasted for over an hour. I think I should just go to bed. Except that Scott needs the light on in order to get his bi-PAP ready when he goes to bed.

But I could shower and retreat to the bedroom with a book. Maybe I'll do that.
