Apr. 10th, 2017 08:04 pmMy gynecologist took biopsy samples from the lining of my uterus. If that doesn’t show any problems, we’ll go on with a hysterosonogram just to be sure. That will be at the hospital and sounds pretty uncomfortable as they’ll want me to have an overfull bladder and then will pump saline into my uterus so that they can see it better.
The biopsy means bleeding and cramping for a few days. The gynecologist said that I should not consider that an actual period for counting purposes. She also ordered a blood draw to see whether my hormonal profile says menopause. She said that, if I didn’t have the history of hormone positive cancer, the normal approach would be to give me progesterone for just long enough to force a period and clear things out.
My primary care doctor thinks I need to go back to orthopedics to talk about surgery for my hands.
Her gatekeeping nurse had apparently been putting me off (since February!) because she (the nurse) thought I hadn’t yet seen orthopedics. When she got snotty today and accused me of not following instructions, I told her the day and time and clinician, and all of a sudden, I was actually talking to my doctor.
My PCP has sent over a PT order for the Achille’s tendinitis and an OT referral for my hands. I wanted OT for my hands because I don’t see any way that PT would help.
I need to talk to the oncology people, too, about the pros and cons of stopping the tamoxifen. I’m very much leaning toward stopping. If today’s blood tests show menopause, though, the question becomes moot because one can’t safely take tamoxifen after menopause.
Anyway, between this and having a fic to write, I probably won't be answering comments with any regularity until the end of the month or so.
