I updated my website yesterday. I've been 'in process' on updates since last fall, so it's well past time for it. Update details )

My new glasses are getting less use than I expected. I'm mildly near sighted, and I'm old enough to be better off doing close work without my glasses. That means that, if I'm going to read on the bus or go back and forth between looking at my laptop and looking at the TV, I can't wear my glasses. The on again off again drives me crazy and puts me at risk for losing this pair, too. (My previous pair disappeared some time in early 2007. I kept thinking they'd turn up soon.)

I do like the frames. I'm glad I held out for bigger frames than are currently the style. Not desperately needing glasses helped with that. I'd have hated having only a teeny bit of my field of vision corrected. As it stands with these frames, there are still bits that aren't but not nearly as much as I would if I'd settled for the stylish (and much more expensive!) frames. Who on earth decided that tiny lenses were better?

PT has continued to go fairly well. My physical therapist recommends that I not try a chiropractor. She thinks the force involved might cause me as many problems as it solved, given how easily I injure. She emphasizes having me exert the force for each correction myself with her guiding me. She considers that a better approach. Never having tried working with a chiropractor, I can't tell.

We've been doing a lot of small corrections, releasing a few spinal joints, a rib or two and a few seized muscles at a time. Today, we focused on my right shoulder and the various things affecting it and affected by it. There are so many little muscles in there, and they're all complaining loudly. I've taken a flexeril in hopes that it will help. (I took anaprox earlier today. If I'm still hurting in an hour, I'll take Tylenol as well.)

My last appointment is Wednesday while Delia's at pre-school. I hope that the work we've done sticks. I've got a couple of exercises to work on. One of them is going fairly well. That one involves pulling the bottoms of my shoulder blades down and in toward my spine. Apparently, those muscles haven't been doing anything and have been letting my shoulders do all the work. The other exercise, I'm not sure I'm doing right. I think that it tires me more than it should (a sign that I need to do it but need to be very, very careful about when and how). It's an isometric involving mild pressure between one finger and various points on my head while I'm lying down. The hardest part of that one is getting the pressure right. It's very easy to go too hard. The purpose of this one is to activate the muscles and then let them go so that they get used to shutting off. Most of the muscles in there have been constantly active for so long that I've got no idea what they're supposed to feel like when they're relaxed.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cherydactyl who took Delia for the morning so I could go to PT and who took her to pre-school as well. Our daughters are picking up bad habits from each other, so we wanted to give them a break from each other (They need it. [livejournal.com profile] cherydactyl's daughter is much better at manipulation than Delia is, and Delia is much more prone to open defiance, running away, hitting and throwing things when unhappy. The crossover is not pretty), but I really needed help today. I hope Delia's being good...
