The kids are back at school today. It was still pretty cold this morning, but it was more like normal winter cold for around here. It's cold enough that the school won't be allowing any outdoor recess today. I'm not sure what the cut off temperature is for that.

I went in to the library when Cordelia went to school. With snow and my boots, it just doesn't make sense to come back home for fifteen minutes. Going in when Cordelia does, means that I arrive before the librarian, but if the library's locked, I can easily wait in the hall. This morning, there was someone in there, so I went in and got started on shelving books. When the librarian arrived, she asked me to pull some books-- Newbery Award winners-- from a list. That filled in the time until the kids brought their books in.

I seem to have messed up last time. There was a little girl today, in the second class I help with, who, according to the records, had four overdue books. She denies having checked any of them out, and the librarian and I have no reason to doubt her. That means that I must have forgotten to scan someone's barcode before I started checking out books to them. We have no idea who's got those books.

I'm kind of hungry, but I don't dare eat much. This morning's coffee didn't stay down (I thought about not going in to the library, but I don't think I'm actually sick, not in a contagious sense). I might be fine to eat whatever I want, but I also might not be. I had some dry cereal so that I could take my must be taken with food medication. I skipped my multivitamin, just in case.

Scott badly needs an evening when he can simply have dinner and then crash. Unfortunately, Thursday isn't that day. He has to drive Cordelia to and from indoor soccer practice. (Some people call indoor soccer 'futsul.' I may occasionally do that. Rec & Ed discontinued that name because it was confusing people.) It's times like this when I really, really wish I could drive safely. I do plan to go along. I want to stop at Kroger, and I want to drop some things off at the nearby library branch.

Having Cordelia's appointment at 3:00 instead of 1:00 works better in a lot of ways. I don't have to rush to get myself fed in less than half an hour, and I don't have to pack a lunch for Cordelia (she's no longer willing to eat pickles). I even have a little time to relax between when I finish at the library at about 11:15 and when I pick Cordelia up at 1:50.

Both cabs today were on time. We shared the outbound cab, picking someone up at the Dental School and dropping them off more or less on the way to our appointment. We still had thirty-five minutes to wait between when we arrived and when the appointment started.

I talked to the social worker about trying to figure out more opportunities for Cordelia and me to sleep away from home. [livejournal.com profile] evalerie has offered to host us, but I don't think Cordelia remembers meeting [livejournal.com profile] evalerie or any member of her family. That might make the whole thing too difficult. I hesitate to impose on Scott's sister again, and both Cordelia and her cousin have very busy weekends for the foreseeable future. Cordelia has indoor soccer, and her cousin has forensics. I suppose a Saturday night might work. Most of the competitions are on Saturdays. Of course, then we have to pack dress cloths so that we can go to church with them. Scott's parents are going to be gone until the 27th or so, and they're still trying to sort out the question of Scott's father's surgery.

We got home just before the cleaning lady left. I had about half an hour to relax before I had to get dinner for Cordelia. She was really looking forward to practice. She seemed less than thrilled when she got home, but part of that seemed to be a reluctance to take her scheduled shower. I suspect, though, that with seventeen girls in an elementary school gym, there's not a lot of scrimmaging going on, and she dislikes drills.

I did find out, from a YouTube video the coach put together, that each team fields four players plus the goalie. That makes nine players pretty much the perfect number if the coach can switch players in the middle of each quarter. (Of course, we might not be playing with quarters. Outdoor soccer plays halves at the fifth grade level.)
