Scott has overtime scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday of this week and expects to work during the weekend (he's had several weekends off, so it's very likely even with his vacation starting Monday).

I'm trying to figure out the best way to go and vote. Cordelia doesn't want to come with me but also doesn't want me to leave her at home while I go. I'm willing to leave her. We have neighbors who are home who I trust, and she's eleven. I also suggested leaving her with her friends down the street, but she says that won't work because the boy has a friend over.

Voting will take me about an hour (fifteen minutes there, fifteen minutes back, no more than half an hour for voting). Cordelia wants to know why I have to vote. I've tried to explain that it's important. For some local elections (mayor, city council), the primary decides who will win in November. I'm also very interested in the non-partisan judicial elections and the ballot proposals.

I need to get Scott to update the OS on my laptop. Google and Tumblr are both complaining that the version of Safari that I'm using is outdated and won't work with their sites, but I can't update Safari beyond where it is now without updating my OS. Scott's been meaning to do this for months and months. He just hasn't found the time.

Something stung or bit me while I was taking out the trash. I didn't see what it was. I just felt a sudden pain. There was nothing there when I looked down. Whatever it is, it still hurts half an hour later. I tried applying a baking soda paste, but it didn't help. There's a welt on my leg now. I suspect the pain's not going away any time soon. Fortunately, I'm not allergic to anything that's likely to be responsible for the sting/bite. (Scott is allergic to bees and wasps. We don't know about Cordelia yet.)
