Apr. 30th, 2015 09:58 amIt's the last day of April, and I don't feel like I've accomplished much this month. I think a big part of that is the bad foot/ankle. I'm wondering if I can pick up doing the dishes again now that I can walk a little. I should be able to load the dishwasher, but I'm not so sure about emptying it when the dishes are clean.
I successfully showered and trimmed my toenails yesterday. The toenails thing is a major accomplishment because, up until now, my right foot has hurt too much for me to get it into a position where I could reach my toes for that purpose. I was starting to fear that my toenails would cut through my socks.
I'm having trouble deciding what to wear these days. In the mornings, it's chilly enough that I want long sleeves, but by evening, I'm sweating and want short sleeves. The last two days, I've simply changed clothes mid-day, but I'd rather not keep doing that if I can avoid it.
I have two phone calls I should make today or tomorrow. First, I need to make an appointment to get our air conditioner serviced. It would just be a tuneup, unless something has gone seriously wrong. Which is possible because, last spring, we discovered that all of the coolant had leaked out. The thing hadn't been serviced in sixteen or seventeen years, however, so the repair guy said it might very well be a leak so slow that it would be years before we had trouble again. He did say that it might be something bigger/faster that would mean needing to replace the unity. He put dye in with the coolant so that, this year, he can see where it's leaking.
Second, a guy from the gas company came by yesterday. He said he wanted to check around the meter for leaks. I said that it wasn't a good time as I can't go up and down the basement stairs, so he left me a number to call to make an appointment for someone to come at another time. I don't feel particularly urgent about it, but whatever.
Scott's FATE game met last night. He was late getting out of work, and my phone had turned itself off (it does that about once a month), so he couldn't reach me. He tried Cordelia, but she'd gone out on a bike ride, leaving her phone behind, and I didn't hear it ring. We ended up getting food from Zoup. I had their ginger squash soup which I love but which they don't have most of the time when we go in there.
We didn't accomplish a vast amount in the game, mainly some interaction with NPCs to set up stuff for later. I am having trouble in that Scott has introduced some NPCs I know from a previous game (one I ran), and I have to remember that my character knows nothing whatsoever about them. That previous game was a sort of wild ride GURPS game where I told the players to make the characters of their dreams without fussing about points, that I'd balance things out during play. We had a really wide range of character types and abilities. I don't think Scott's going to use all of them-- For example, I very much doubt that the demon who came from another world to prevent the apocalypse will show up. He wouldn't fit with the game world we're currently in, and we decided a number of features of the world by consensus before the game began.
