Sep. 9th, 2013 10:18 amSaturday morning, Cordelia and I went to a rummage sale at the church across the street from her school. There were a lot of clothes, but neither of us felt really motivated to dig through them. Cordelia did a bit more than I did and found a short sleeved cardigan sort of thing. It's a little small on her, but she likes it a lot and is wearing it today. I got two movies on DVD, Romancing the Stone and True Lies. We also picked up five paperbacks, all spin-off series from the Little House books. There was one from the Rose series, two from the Martha series and one each from two other series (I think one about Caroline and one about her mother). I tried to interest Cordelia in a Betsy, Tacy and Tib compilation volume, but she turned up her nose at it.
Scott worked yesterday. Cordelia got me up about nine (I've been told that I ought to get up at the same time on the weekends that I do on weekdays, but I just can't do it. I do so much better if I sleep until nine than I do if I get up at seven). She spent an hour playing with the kids down the street then came home to get ready for a birthday party.
The party was in Canton, so it was a fair investment of time to get there. Cordelia got a ride with one of her classmates, fortunately. Otherwise, she'd not have been able to go. The party was at an indoor trampoline place. I think the kids had about an hour of jumping. Cordelia reported that they had ice cream cake but that it was chocolate so the birthday girl wouldn't eat any. (I wonder if chocolate was the only flavor the place provided. I can't imagine the girl's parents deliberately picking out a flavor of cake that she hates.)
I did four loads of laundry and ran the dishwasher. In the evening, I browned some ground turkey that I then mixed with a jar of Alfredo sauce. Cordelia had hers with pasta (not on the pasta. She doesn't like that) while Scott and I had sloppy Joes. There's enough leftover for us to eat tonight which is good because Scott says he's probably going to be stuck working late. If we didn't have leftovers, I'd have to figure out how to cook the chicken he bought Saturday. As it is, he'll probably grill that tomorrow.
Today, I need to empty the dishwasher, put away laundry and tidy the living room at least enough so that I can do Sit and Be Fit. I also need to write. I've only got two weeks (a little less) left to finish this story, and I did no writing the last three days. I think I know what's wrong, but it's going to be painful to fix. I have to rip out some of what I've written and try that section again, with a different approach. I got myself bogged down and stuck going somewhere pointless. When I'm not writing, I'll work on the LARP conversion. I have ten pages of stuff to type in. I also ought to sign up to run the LARP at UCon. I'm not sure why I haven't done it yet. I just keep forgetting.
The week looks busy. Tomorrow is curriculum night. I'll be attending, and I'll spend half an hour working the Girl Scout informational table. Wednesday is soccer practice. Thursday is Scott's Babylon 5 game. We currently have no plans for Friday, but Scott's work may require him to stay late then, too. Saturday is completely clear. This weekend's soccer game is on Sunday (Almost certainly due to Yom Kippur). It's too soon to know which weekend day Scott will have off. He's going to try for Sunday, given the soccer game, but everybody wants Sunday off, and in spite of having been there for nineteen years, he's lower seniority than most of his coworkers.
