I have a bunch of phone calls to make this afternoon. I need to work them in around other stuff. The most urgent is the A-Ride scheduling call, but that should take the least amount of time. I also have to reschedule an appointment from 8:30 on May 7th to a day and time I can actually do (This is the appointment with the surgeon my SIL recommended. I managed to get a referral to him. It's no big surprise that his schedule is so full). Then I have to call our insurance and find out which proton pump inhibitor they'll pay for since they're refusing to cover Prilosec and don't, the last I knew, cover Nexium. After that, I have to call my gastroenterologist's nurse so that she can arrange a prescription for me for whatever the insurance will cover.

I saw my psychiatrist this morning. I gave her the paperwork for my A-Ride reapplication (I have to do it every three years). She said she'd get it out today. She's also going to call the company that oversees long term disability reviews for the university. She's going on maternity leave some time toward the end of this month and wants the review dealt with before that if at all possible. In years past, they've sent the paperwork toward the end of March, around the 26th.

I originally planned to eat lunch downtown, but I forgot to take my medications with me. That wasn't such a big deal for the with lunch meds but was a deal breaker for the one I have to take half an hour before I eat. I'm a bit bummed out about missing out on this as I also missed a lunch out on Sunday (Scott and Cordelia got one. I didn't because Scott didn't suggest it until after I'd heated my meal. It wouldn't store for later).

On the bus home, I ran into our cleaning lady, and she and I talked all the way to my stop. We mostly talked about Cordelia. Hawa takes a strong interest in Cordelia and always wants to hear what she's been up to.

And the Aetna RX call center is apparently in a bad weather zone. They have long, long delays and are asking anybody who doesn't have an emergency to wait a day or three. My case isn't an emergency, so I guess I'll wait. It's just annoying to have psyched myself up to make the call only to have the rug pulled out from under me.

A-Ride is all booked up at the time when I wanted to schedule pick up. That means I could go either fifteen minutes later or fifteen minutes earlier. I picked earlier because they often end up running very late when they're booked up. I somehow doubt they'd pick us up on time if I went for 2:15.

Cordelia has friends over, her best friend and her best friend's younger brother. They're expecting another girl, also a fifth grader, so that the three fifth graders can work on a science fair project. I'm not entirely clear on what the project is except that it involves bouncing a lot of balls. I've told Cordelia that they'll have to go into the laundry room. That's got some open space and very little that can be broken.

The three kids here now are playing Mario Kart and bickering. Cordelia's friend just forced the other two to do what she wanted by continually pushing the button to close the game until they agreed to do what she said. These two kids will be here every morning before school for the rest of the week and all day on Monday (there's no school so the teachers can write report cards). I hope they can somehow get along.

We're planning to buy pizza tonight. I'm not sure if we'll have three or four kids for dinner. Cordelia said that the third girl needed to go to dinner with her family because it's her grandfather's birthday, so I think she won't be staying as late as Cordelia originally planned. I hope the girls have time for their project.

Now that Cordelia is starting to develop breasts and is about to start middle school, I'm trying to get her in the habit of wearing bras. My experience in middle school was that girls who didn't-- whether they needed one or not-- got teased horribly, and I don't want her to go through that.

I'm a bad example, however, because I rarely wear bras, only two or three times a year. Up until last week, I only owned one bra. It's hard to find bras that fit me that aren't miserably uncomfortable. I can't deal with lace or underwires. I've only found one bra that avoids both and comes in my size. Last week, I ordered three more bras. I washed them yesterday and intend to start wearing them regularly. I'm hoping that, if Cordelia sees me doing it, she'll do it. At the very least, I'll have more moral authority if I tell her she needs to wear them.
